Guided tours of old town and cathedral

Enjoy one of the few originally remaining medieval town centres with one of the oldest half-timbered houses. Be enchanted and immerse in past times.

One of our destinations is St. George Cathedral that has been situated above the city of Limburg for more than 800 years. The guided tour offers you access to parts of the cathedral that may only be entered in company of well-informed persons.

Treasure of the cathedral and Diocesan Museum

After renovation work the Diocesan Museum has been re-opened and offers you a new permanent exhibition. The museum, situated right next to the cathedral, shows you works of sacred art as well as the Cathedral’s treasure in the basement of the building.

As a permanent presentation the works of the silhouette artist Ernst Moritz Engert can be visited. The extensive donation is divided in topics that are shown in turn.

The crystal cave of Kubach

Not far from Weilburg, near Kubach, Germany’s only crystal cave can be visited. Surrounded by 350-million-year-old limestone and innumerable crystals you get information about geological events. In the nearby open-air stone museum you can admire types of rock from different geological periods.

Hessenpark

Hessenpark is situated not far from Limburg, near Anspach in the Taunus. This open-air museum has given a new home for more than 100 historic buildings from different parts of Hessen. A visit of the old buildings lets you enjoy the atmosphere of past times.
